Mentors/Tutors Information Session

A-OK Mentoring-Tutoring , Inc. is actively seeking volunteers and welcomes people from all background and experiences to participate in the organization! Volunteers serve as mentors and tutors for preschool, elementary and middle school students in Howard County and community programs. Mentors/Tutors

A-OK Volunteers serve as mentors and tutors for elementary and middle school students in Howard County schools. Our volunteers can provide one-on-one mentoring/tutoring during the school day in the schools or serve in special in-school and after-school programs working with children in small groups. A-OK volunteers make a commitment to serve for the school year and do not mentor/tutor in the summer. We are screening and training new volunteers for the current school year. Information Sessions are held that provide details about the organization, available volunteer opportunities, and to begin the process to become a volunteer with A-OK. Develop YouTube channel and update accordingly. Take high resolution pictures and videos of activities and events for the Youtube Channel. (Some existing pictures and Videos will be provided).

Design and post upcoming projects. Provide links to registration page for payment. Update payments to match fees for new projects and workshops. Create a page for Meet our Board (will provide pictures and short bios). Create a page for Meet our Founder and President (will provide picture and short bio). Update Gallery with new pictures and videos to attract new customers. Record and post testimonials average once a month. Assist to create our first newsletter. Meet with Marketing team to obtain website updates. Proficiency skills in WordPress and programming required.

Various Opportunities (for female high school & college students)

codeHER offers a plethora of volunteer opportunities to female high school and college students across the region. We have coding instructor positions available, as well as positions as TA's. We are also offering an internship opportunity throughout the school year. For those interested in working behind the scenes, we have committees available for girls to join, such as the marketing, finance, curriculum development, and visionary and expansion committee. No experience is required, and all are encouraged to join.

Event Support: We are also seeking volunteers to support the events offered by our flagship program, Columbia Families in Nature. These individuals should have comfort working with fairly large groups of families (~20 families per event), some knowledge about and/or enthusiasm for the natural environment, and the ability to attend events on Sunday afternoons or Wednesday mornings.
