CASA Volunteer Pre-Service Training
Each year in Howard County, children are abused, neglected, or abandoned by their families. These children are removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions. Their only “crime” is that they have been victims. That’s where Voices for Children CASA volunteers come in. Our CASA volunteers work to ensure that all children have a safe and permanent home.
Voices for Children recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers to become court appointed special advocates (CASAs). Training will begin April 20 and run for 7 consecutive Monday evenings. All interested volunteers must complete an application and an interview before beginning training. Our training focuses on the dynamics of child abuse and neglect, an understanding of the court process and familiarity with community resources. After successful completion of training and thorough background checks, volunteers are matched with a child through the Howard County Circuit Court.
If you are interested in joining the April class, please complete our application at https://voicesforchildren.org/volunteer/.
