Elementary and Secondary Field Trip Hike Leaders

Volunteers are needed at The Howard County Conservancy for the 2019 Fall / 2020 Spring field trip season. Elementary Volunteer field trip hike leaders take small groups of students with chaperones on a guided hike with activities on the grounds of the Conservancy. Secondary Volunteer field trip hike leaders assist with various activities including macroinvertebrate sampling and water testing. 

We are holding training sessions in September and encourage volunteers to attend at least one training session.  However, they are not mandatory. Doors open at 9am for coffee and conversation.  The sessions will begin at 9:30am.  Please contact the Conservancy directly, if you would like to volunteer but cannot attend a session.

Elementary Sessions: 

  • Sept. 5: 2nd Grade - The Science of Soils (Mt. Pleasant 10520 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock, MD 21163)
  • Sept. 10: Pre-K & Outreach (The Carriage House at Belmont Manor and Historic Park, 6553 Belmont Woods Road, Elkridge, MD 21075)
  • Sept. 12: 1st Grade - Wild Exploration (Mt. Pleasant 10520 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock, MD 21163)
  • Sept. 17: 5th Grade - Bioblitz (The Carriage House at Belmont Manor and Historic Park, 6553 Belmont Woods Road, Elkridge, MD 21075)

Secondary Session:

  • Sept. 3: Watershed Report Card (Mt. Pleasant 10520 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock, MD 21163)
