Community Engagement Volunteers

HopeWorks’ Volunteer Program is supportive of the organization’s two-pronged mission: providing support and advocacy for people in Howard County affected by sexual and intimate partner violence and developing the community engagement necessary for primary prevention.

If you love to build relationships, share your enthusiasm for a cause, and impact the resources available to a nonprofit, this position may be right for you.  Community Engagement Volunteers are an integral part of our gender and sexual violence prevention programming. Community Engagement Volunteers have the opportunity to assist educators and coordinators with event set up, organizing holiday projects, assisting with fundraisers, staffing booths at community health fairs, and even gain facilitation experience. Community Engagement Volunteers may volunteer on three levels of advocacy ranging in time commitment: Special Event Volunteers, Outreach Volunteers, and Engagement Volunteers. All Community Engagement Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Volunteers must complete the Volunteer Application, background check,, Step 1 Training and the CED Volunteer Training.

HopeWorks seeks multiple volunteers to fill both ongoing and one-time Community Engagement opportunities. After Successfully completing training, volunteers may sign up for differing community engagement roles.

  • Volunteers will report to the Volunteer Program Coordinator and the Director of the Community Engagement Department.
  • Hours are as needed and flexible.

Volunteers may apply two times a year-- January 1- February 15 AND July 1- August 15. The volunteer application can be found at wearehopeworks.org/volunteer
