SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEERS WANTED

Camp Inclusion is a summer day camp in Howard County designed for students with and without special needs ages 12-21. Every summer, we recruit high school and college aged students looking for volunteer hours & experiences to serve as our camp volunteers. Volunteers must be between the ages of 16 and 21 and experience working with children is preferred but not required. Camp operates the weeks of July 23-27, July 30- Aug 3, Aug 6-10, and Aug 13-17. We require that volunteers dedicate at least 5 days during this time to be considered for a volunteer position, preferably five consecutive days in a given week. Mentors/Tutors Information Session

A-OK Mentoring-Tutoring, Inc is actively seeking volunteers! We welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences to participate in the organization! A-OK Volunteers serve as mentors and tutors for elementary school children and middle school youth in Howard County schools and in community afterschool programs. Information Sessions are held regularly to learn more about A-OK Mentoring-Tutoring and available volunteer opportunities. FALL DAY TO SERVE

We are looking for individuals or groups who would like to join us for Fall Day to Serve (September 11th - October 10th). Come for as many or as few hours as you want during the hours of 9-2:45. Some possibilities when serving are: Projects such as an art project, carving pumpkins, hula contest, fall festival, etc.… Spending time one on one with clients sharing experiences, interests, backgrounds, cultures, traditions, ideas, or computer assistance, etc.…. Conservation Stewardship Project

The Conservation Stewardship Project, a joint program of the Howard County Master Gardeners and the Howard County Recreation & Parks, targets the problem of controlling invasive exotic plant species in the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area (MPEA). Volunteer work dates occur monthly from March through November, skipping July and August. Each date includes an educational component concerning the target invasive species or work area for the day. BikeAbout Traffic Volunteer

Volunteers are needed for Columbia Association’s (CA) annual Columbia BikeAbout, a free event being held this year on Saturday, September 29, 2018 organized by CA and the Columbia Archives. Volunteers will assist with traffic control and directions, and they will act as guides along the 12-mile route. Flexible shifts are available between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Training — and a free T-shirt — will be provided for those volunteering to help. Traffic volunteers will be stationed along our 12 mile route throughout the pathway system. Traffic assistance consists of asking bike riders to stop and wait for car traffic to pass. Please do not stop traffic. Knowledge of pathways in the villages of Wilde Lake, Harper's Choice, Hickory Ridge and Town Center, or ability to identify locations using pathway map is a plus. BikeAbout History Buff

Volunteers are needed for Columbia Association’s (CA) annual Columbia BikeAbout, a free event being held this year on Saturday, September 29, 2018 organized by CA and the Columbia Archives. Volunteers will be outgoing and interested in learning about Columbia's history. Several historical sites are located along the 12-mile route. Flexible shifts are available between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Training — and a free T-shirt — will be provided for those volunteering to help. History site volunteers will be provided a script about their site. During the event volunteers will answer questions from BikeAbout participants about the site. We will provide volunteers with information to answer questions. Some sites work better with two history volunteers - please let me know if you have a friend you'd like to volunteer with. WALK for PAWS Friday Set-Up

The WALK for PAWS and Pet Festival is Animal Advocates of Howard County’s (AAHC) major fund-raiser of the year. We need a lot of help to make this event a success. This event is held at Lake Elkhorn Park in Columbia, MD. Volunteers for the WALK for PAWS Friday Set-up, volunteers will unload trucks and vehicles and carry (or use dollies, handcarts, wagons, etc.) to deliver equipment and supplies to the appropriate location on the festival grounds. They will also help unpack and set up the equipment, set up tents and tables, and put up snow fence rings for various activities.
